The program included works by Ives (Three Page Sonata), Ruggles (Evocations), Becker (Soundpiece No. 5), Antheil (Jazz Sonata), Bermel (Turning), Biggs (Three Piano Pieces), and the world premier of my own composition, Hymns (solo piano version). While I at UMKC, I also presented master classes to the composition students, as well as recorded the above mentioned work by Christopher Biggs.

THE WORLD PREMIER OF DOODLES, a set of five variations for solo tuba, took place at Kent University by Jeffrey Meyer who commissioned the piece from me in 2005. The program also included Sonata for tuba and piano by Louis V. Pisciotta, Fractured Mambos for tuba and tape by Charles Ruggiero, Trio for horn, trombone, and tuba by Frigyes Hidas, and Sonata for tuba and string quartet by David N. Baker.

This was a unique performance. It was through the Lifetime Learning division of Newton Community Education. A shorter performance, about an hour in length, I explored different ways composers set text to instrumental piano music. I'll be playing Snippets and Mayn Yingele by Rzewski, and the Benediction by Liszt. I also banged my knee against the stage on my way up to start the concert, and wound up bleeding through my pants.
